The Indian streaming market is a sizzling one right now. A few days ago, Zomato launched Zomato Originals. Now, Flipkart has got on the bandwagon with Flipkart Videos. The videos are available via a link on the Flipkart app.
Right now, the app provides some of the most popular Bollywood films, like English Vinglish, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan and others. On the app, one can also access episodes from popular tv shows like The Kapil Sharma show.
With so many content creators coming up with great concepts, it is only a matter of time that Flipkart will offer original content as well. India is seeing a spurt in home grown streaming platforms that give straight competition to the foreign counterparts. Homegrown streaming platforms like Hotstar, ALTBalaji and SonyLIV have managed to create a niche for themselves, even though platforms like Netflix and Amazon are still behemoths.
This is good news for content creators as well as streaming content fans. With so many platforms and so many options, the customer is truly a king, or queen, as the case may be right now. Flipkart videos doesn’t have original videos, but our guess is that its just a matter of time.
